Policies and Standards Project

Home > Government > eGov Projects > eGov Implementation Project - Wave 1

Project Description:

UAE Federal Government has identified and prioritized all services provided by 21 ministries and 18 agencies for implementation of its eGovernment initiative. A "Transition Plan" has been produced to indicate a roadmap for implementing the identified projects in various phases/waves.

UAE Federal Government has recognized the need to set Standards and Policies for critical areas within each project to attain consistency and maximum efficiency in project implementations. These standards and policies will initially guide wave 1 projects, and later on be used for all remaining projects. Keeping in view the changing requirements and dynamic nature of the technology this project would be followed by a continuous process of polices and standards review and update.

Vision:

To develop, recommend and maintain a set of essential standards, policies and guidelines that would regulate all eGovernment projects and to finalize an IT framework which would be the enabler of all the envisaged eGovernment projects at present and scalable enough to accommodate the requirements of near future.

Objectives:

  • To help in attaining consistency and to maximize usability of the investments which are planed at present or for near future.
  • To help facilitate integration efforts which are required during various phases of eGovernment initiative.
  • To reduce the delivery time of the projects through readily available information and by avoiding various kind of repetitive work.
  • To help better cost estimation for projects and service delivery.
  • To bring in more clarity between e-Government stakeholders and the third party implementers.
  • To act as a guideline for the RFP preparation, proposal evaluation and implementation of various projects within UAE eGovernment domain.
  • To developed mostly as guidelines based on the best practices without touching the implementations so that implementer/third party has a flexibility of re-using there existing procedures in compliance with the eGovernment Policies & Standards.
