According to International Labour Organization (ILO) and the World Bank, in 2014, 78 per cent of the UAE's population aged 15 years and above were employed and the total unemployment rate in the UAE declined to about 3.6 per cent in 2014 from 3.8 per cent in 2013.
The Annual Economic Report 2016 published by the UAE's Ministry of Economy mentions that the total labour force in the UAE in 2014 was estimated to be 6,302,500 and their total wages were AED 409,176 million.
In comparison, as per the 2015 Annual Economic Report, the total labour force in 2013 was estimated to be 5,861,800 and their total wages were AED 372,773 million.
